MECHANICAL ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION (MECSTACY) INAUGURATION (2016-17 Activities)

The academic activities (2016–17) of the Mechanical Engineering Association (MECSTACY) of Holy Kings College of Engineering and Technology was inaugurated on 6th March 2017. The association was inaugurated by Mr. Jayakrishnan B., CEO, Toyo Rubbers & Quadra Polymer Technologies. Mr. Jayakrishnan B., is also the District President of Kerala Small Scale Industries Association, Ernakulam. He is an eminent personality who has excelled in the fields of education & industrial sector alike, with a treasure of experience in both fields.

The dignitaries present for the function were Prof. Dr. Babu Kurian (Principal, HKCET), Prof. K.U. Abraham (Academic Director, HKCET), Mr. Arun K., (HOD, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, HKCET). The talks given by the dignitaries inspired the students and motivated them to achieve great heights in their professional career. HODs’ of all the departments were present on the occasion. Teaching and non teaching staffs of various departments were also present for the function. 

Mr. Jayakrishnan B. conducted an interactive session with the students and shared some valuable information about the qualities a student should possess. The session turned out to be a fruitful one for the students. Talks by the Principal and Academic Director also stressed on the importance of such associations in exhibiting their talents and moulding their career.

 

TECHNICAL TALK

As an activity of association, a talk on "Entrepreneurship oppurtunities and fund raising for startups" was conducted by Mr. Aswin P.T., Industries Extension Officer and also by Industries Development Officer on the same day (06/03/2017) at the AC Seminar Hall. The students found the talk relevant and came up with lot of questions. 

Another talk was given to the students which was meant to motivate the students on various carrer oppurtunities they can have. Mr. Joy Paul, CEO, Techshore Inspection Services has conducted a seminar on "Career oppurtunities on Oil & Gas fields" on 06/03/2017 at the AC Seminar Hall. The seminar turned out to be a fruitful one.

 

MECSTACY (Mechanical Engg. Association) ACTIVITIES – 2015-16

 

The activities of the Mechanical Engg. Association (MECSTACY) for the academic year 2015-16, was inaugurated in a grand ceremony at the AC seminar hall on 03/11/2015 at 10 am.

Mr. John Rojo (S7), Chairman, MECSTACY, welcomed the dignitaries and audience to the inaugural function. The function was formally inaugurated by Smt. Nidhi Deepak Bansal, Scientist F, Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), DRDO. Principal, Prof. Dr. Babu Kurian & Academic Director, Prof. K. U Abraham addressed the students and stressed on the importance of such association activities in moulding their career. HODs’ of all the departments were present on the occasion. Teaching and non teaching staffs of various departments were also present.

   

It was followed by a technical talk on "Mechanical Systems Design of SONAR" by the distinguished chief guest. The programme was coordinated by Asst. Prof. Shajahan CM and Asst. Prof. Kiran George.

 

Inauguration of MECSTACY, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION (2014-15 Academic Activities)

The association activities of the current academic year of Mechanical Engineering Association, MECSTACY, were inaugurated in a grand ceremony held at the AC Seminar Hall on 8th October 2014 from 2pm – 4pm.

Mr. Maneesh Mohan (S7), Chairman, MECSTACY, welcomed the dignitaries and audience to the inaugural function. The function was formally inaugurated by Sri. Parameswaran N.S, Retd. DGM, Engineering Division, Hindustan Newsprint Limited, Kottayam. A Logo for the Asscociation, designed by Anil Vinayak P. & Ginson P Gayos(S7), was launched by Executive Director, Chev. (Prof.) Jory Mathai in the same venue. The Department also became the first of its kind in HKCET to release a Newsletter, ‘MechTalks’ during the inauguration. The Newsletter was released by Academic Director, Prof. K. U Abraham, who handed over the first copy to Principal, Prof. Dr. Grasius M.G. Prof. (Cmde.) P Koshy Varughese (HOD, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering) and Prof. Dr. Grasius M.G. addressed the students and stressed on the importance of such association activities in moulding their career. The talk by other dignitaries also encouraged the students to involve in academic and co-curricular activities. HODs’ of all the departments were present on the occasion. Teaching and non teaching staffs of various departments were also present.

   

The inauguration was followed by a technical talk by the Chief Guest on the topic ‘Role of Mechanical Engineers in an Industry’ which gave the students an insight on the different levels of engineers and their roles in an industry. He shared some of the experiences in his 35 years career in industry and narrated situations stressing about the importance of calculated risks and confidence in planning a successful career as an Engineer.

 

The association plans to conduct various activities like technical quizzes, exhibitions, concept design and assembly competitions during this academic year under the guidance of Mr. Shahjahan C.M and Mr. Kiran George, Staff coordinators of the association.

The association was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. C E Krishnan, Director of SNGCE, Kadayirippu. Prof. Dr. C E Krishnan, is an eminent, enthusiastic educational & management consultant who has excelled in the fields of education & industrial management alike, with a treasure of experience in both fields.

The dignitaries present for the function were Sri. P V Thomas (Chairman of Trust), Sri. C G Jolly (Secretary of Trust), Prof. Jory Mathai (Executive Director), Prof. Dr. Grasius M G (Principal), Prof. K Rajendran (Director – Technical), Prof. K U Abraham (Director – Academics) and Prof. C V George (HOD, ME Dept.). The talks given by the dignitaries inspired the students and motivated them to achieve great heights in their professional career. HODs’ of all the departments were present on the occasion. Teaching and non teaching staffs of various departments were also present for the function.

Prof. Dr. C E Krishnan conducted an interactive session with the students and shared some valuable information about the management qualities a student should possess. The session turned out to be a fruitful one for the students. The association plans to conduct various activities like technical quizzes, exhibitions, concept design and assembly competitions during the academic year. The association, as its name suggests will try to be a real resource of Mechanical Engineering knowledge.
